
UNIVERSITY OF GRANMA.
HISTORY
The institution was founded on December 10, 1976, growing in recognition and utility under the name of Higher Institute of Agricultural Sciences of Bayamo (ISCAB). As result of the economic, political, social and cultural development reached by the country, in the summer of 1997 changed its name to the University of Granma (UDG) and new degrees were opened.
In the 2014-2015 academic year, the Faculty of Computer Science is settled in the Ministry of Higher Education. As continuity to this process, the University of Pedagogical Sciences ¨Blas Roca Calderio¨ and the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sport Sciences join to the University of Granma.
The enrollment is made up of more than 7,000 students in the different learning and its faculty is led by 147 Doctors, 669 Masters of Sciences and 23 Specialists, 70 have the teaching category of Full Professor and 465 are Assistant Professors.
Currently the Center holds the qualified category, supported by the National Accreditation Board. In the external evaluation processes, the degrees of Agronomy Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Bachelor Degree´s of Accounting and Finance, Bachelor Degrees´ of Sociocultural Studies, Bachelor of Law, Forestry Engineering and Mechanical Engineering have been certified. The Bachelor of Economics obtained the certificated category and the Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics the Excellence category.
A total of 36 degrees are currently being studied at the university in the different teaching modalities and distributed in eight faculties, all of which systematically manage quality.
International relations are mainly centralized in institutions from 24 countries with which 199 agreements have been signed. The greatest collaboration is in America (Ecuador, Brazil and Argentina) and in Europe (Spain, Germany and Belgium).
