City in which a deep-rooted Cuban idiosyncrasy remains, of which you can witness if you walk its streets, where history and the present coexist in harmony.

The city of Bayamo, capital of the Granma province, was founded by Spanish settlers on November 5, 1513. The town of San Salvador de Bayamo is the second established in Cuba.

It preserves an extraordinary history that made it worthy of the condition of National Monument and Cradle of the Cuban Nationality.  Numerous historical events happened in this territory, it was the place where the National Anthem was written and sung, where Carlos Manuel de Céspedes was born, initiator of our libertarian deeds, as well as other patriots who offered their lives to free Cuba from the Spanish yoke.

The Bayamo Urban Historic Center (CHUB) is made up, in a significant part, of architecture and urban planning with cultural and environmental values of broad significance for the collective memory of the territory and the Nation, since it would be impossible to write the History of Cuba without mentioning the National Monument City.

Because it is a memorable place, it constitutes a heritage to be preserved for present and future generations.  Among the valuable buildings and sites of interest that it treasures are the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Birthplace Museum;  the Plaza del Himno, where the glorious Anthem of Bayamo became the National Anthem was sung for the first time, and the Walk on General García Street, a must-see for all who arrive in the territory.
