The Cupaynicú Botanical Garden was inaugurated in Bayamo on November 22, 1981, initially for scientific purposes.  However, it did not take long to arouse the curiosity of tourists and locals alike, and today it is visited for cultural interest or simply because it is an attractive place to walk.

The Cupaynicú Botanical Garden, which took its name from a nearby river, is located in a green extension of the outskirts of Bayamo.  It is located 16 km from it, so it is advisable to take a bus in the direction of Guisa town and, immediately, you will find this splendid place on your right.

The garden has specialized guides who will illustrate your visit with their explanations about the different species of plants that are home to this habitat, recently reforested and that belonged to an old cattle ranch.

In this environment, a multitude of different plants grow together, from those for medicinal use to those that are purely ornamental, native and foreign, fruit-bearing and desert-like.

You can also find rare species of plants in danger of extinction that are preserved in this nature reserve, most of which is a protected area that is home to ancient trees and where some types of wildlife live.
