Description of the procedure: Obtaining the Driver's License for the first time, for Cuban citizens, Temporary Resident Foreigners and Permanent Resident Foreigners.
Requirements: The Driver's License is issued to people over 18 years of age with the exceptions of the Military Special, which can be granted from the age of 17, at the request of the Military institution and exempt from payment. Pursuant to what is regulated in Article 268 of the Road Safety Code, category (A1) can be granted from 16 years of age.
For any procedure to carry out the Driving License, it is mandatory to present the Identity Card.
For information:
1- Present yourself at the polyclinic in your area of residence to carry out the medical examination. According to Article 270 of the Road Safety Code, if approved by the medical commission, appear at the School of Driver Education to process the course that accredits its approval by means of a certificate.
2- The Certificates are endorsed by the Ministry of Transportation and the National Body in charge of traffic safety. According to Article 254 of the Road Safety Code.
The applicant may appear at the Territorial Driving License Center to which he belongs once he obtains the certificates that legalize the previous numbers.
To take the Theoretical Exam you must submit:
Certificates that legitimize the Medical exam and the School of Driver Education
Postage Stamp: Submit $30.00 in stamps.
Request the theoretical exam, according to Articles 273 and 274; The applicant has three opportunities.
The qualification of the theoretical exam is obtained at the moment.
In case of suspending: The applicant has the right to present himself three times, if he suspends once, he will present himself on two more occasions for a term of at least seven days.
In case of approving: The applicant is granted a Driver's Learning Permit for a term of six months, extendable for another six months for a value of $30.00 in postage stamps.
Learning permit to drive: The learning permit is delivered, which allows you to drive on authorized roads, with a companion with the same category to which you aspire and with at least three years of driving experience. This certificate has a term of validity of six months, extendable for six months, for a value of $30.00 in postage stamps.
Practical test:
The applicant must deliver to the specialist by whom he will be evaluated in the practical exam, the School certificate, medical exam, two 1x1 photos and the learning permit, and take an exam where the parameters established in the Road Safety Code will be evaluated.
In case of approving: The Driving License will be made and delivered to you at the time.
In case of suspending: The driver will present himself twice more for a term of at least seven days. If the third opportunity is disapproved, the applicant can start the process again at any time, upon presentation of the current documentation and the payment of the tax on documents established in the regulations.
The aforementioned procedures will be mandatory for all applicants requesting a new title and a new higher category, C, D, E and FE.
Note:
- The different procedures carried out in our Driving License Units are personal.
- All applicants are advised that the application documents for obtaining a new title or a new category once the procedures have begun in a given province are not valid in another province, so they must start again from the beginning.
Approximate duration time:
Obtaining the medical certificate: it is given in the duration of a medical consultation except for those that, due to their particularities, carry other procedures as determined by the medical commission.
Obtaining the certificate endorsed by the Ministry of Transportation and the National Body in charge of traffic safety: They are given in the estimated time in which the institutions determine that the driver is prepared to carry out said activity.
